MEN ON UNEMPLOYMENT REGISTER
SMALL INCREASE MAINTAINED

The report of the Unemployment Board on the registrations of unemployed as at April 13, 1935, indicates that the slight increase revealed by the last report has been maintained during the period at present under review. The present total of 50,743 .shows an increase of 398 on the corresponding figure recorded last month. The number in receipt of part time employment under scheme No. o, or on sustenance in lieu of relief worK as at April 13, was 33.500. compared with 34,219 on April 14. 1934. a decrease of 719. The number in .lull-time employment, but assisted by wages subsidies from the unemployment fund, was 17,243 on the same date, compared with 27,583 a year ago, a decrease of 10.340. This makes the total number who" arc a charge on the unemployment fund 50,743, compared witn 61,802 a year ago, a total reduction of 11,059.
