NEW CONTROLLER OF CUSTOMS
MR K. I). <;()OI> APPOINTED The appointment of Mr K. D. Good to Die position of Controller of Customs, to succeed Dr. G. Craig, C.M.G., who will retire at. the end of the present month, i.s announced. Mr H. T. M. Tanner has been appointed to succeed Mr Good as assistant Controller of Customs. Mr Good, who was educated at the Auckland Grammar School, joined the Customs Department at Auckland as a cadet on March 15, 1904. He was subsequently stationed in the local offices ol the department at New Plymouth and Wellington. For several years lie was advisory and investigating officer in the head oliice. He has been Assistant Controller since and acted as Controller during the absence of the head of the department at the Imperial Conference in 1930 and the Ottawa Conference in 1932. He also acted as Controller for several months while Dr. Craig was :hairman of the recent Customs Tariff Commission.
Mr Tanner was appointed to the Customs Department at Auckland as a cadet on March 21, 1906, and was subsequently .stationed in the local ofiices of the department at Christchurch and Wellington. He was a member of the Customs Tariff Commission in 1927, and has been an advisory and investigating officer attached to the head ollice for over 12 years.
