GOVERNOR-GENERAL'S RECEPTION

AI'I'HECIATION OK I.OKI) O.U.WAY V l-K*!3 A.SSL'CIATJUK U.!.r.Gl'.A!i.l WELLINGTON. April 13. The Acting-Prime Minister (the Hon. E. A. Ransom) has received the follow int.; letter from the new Governor-General (Lord Galway): "I feel I must take the first opportunity of expressing to you as senior Minister at. Wellington, acting lor the Prime Minister, my deep appreciation of the excellent arrangements which were made for the reception of Lady Galway and myself on our arrival in New Zealand. "It was evident that the greatest care had been taken in every detail to make the formal ceremonies the success they undoubtedly were, and I should be grateful if my warm thanks could be conveyed to all those who were engaged in the organisation of the ceremonies. 'T was very much impressed by the fine bearing of the guard of honour drawn from the Royal Navy and Genera] Headquarters training depot. Their splendid physique and steadiness on parade were noticeable features.

"It was most gratifying to her Excellency and myself to see so many people assembled in the streets on our way to and from Government House and in the grounds of Parliament Buildings to bid us welcome. We felt at once the friendly and warm-hearted spirit in which they acknowledged our presence among t' jm, and it contributed much to our happiness during the day.''
