HEAVY RAIN NEAR GISBORNE
traffic; delayed by sups (Pr.BSa ASSOtU'i'IOM T!iU'.GßA.\t.l GISBOHNE, April 14. The exceptionally heavy rains of Friday and Saturday morning caused several slips on the Wairoa-Gisbornc road, in one section alone the road being blocked for three miles. At Nuhaka, on the same road, a culvert was washed out. Gisbornc was isolated on Saturday, and no passengers, goods traffic, or mails came through. The rain eased somewhat on Saturday, and strenuous efforts on the part of the Public Works Department's gangs resulted in the main road being completely reopened to-day. Several cars, including the .service cars, came through during the afternoon.
