CANTATA AT ST. JOHN'S CHURCH
——& The choir of St. John's Church, Latimer square, last evening, sang the cantata 'Penitence, Pardon and Peace," by J. H. Maunder. The cantata, which is a collection of scriptural verses, arranged by the Rev. J. If. Betterton, contains many beautilul hymns, and proved admirably suited to the choir, which was under the conductorship of Mr Claude Davies.
The choir consists of about 35 voices, and the large congregation joined in some of the more weii-known hymns in the oanlala. The soloists were Mrs Harold Cordery, Miss Delia Lorrimer, and Messrs T. Brooks, J. Turner, and B. Deighton. The other part of the service, which was taken by the Rev. J. T. McWilliam, consisted of prayers, Ihe reading o£ tlv: Lesson, and two other hymns.
