PRISONER RUNS AWAY
BRIEF PERIOD OF LIBERTY (NtBSS ASSOCIATION TtXCdRAM.) NAPIER, April 9. Charles William Price, who escaped at 10.40 a.m. from the Napier gaol, where he was awaiting trial on a charge of murdering Evelyn Mary Madden, at Argyll East, early last February, had a brief period of liberty. During the temporary absence of a warder he mounted the roof of the prison, and jumped to the roadway. The police guarded all roads leading from Napier. Within a few hours Price was recaptured in the hills eight miles west of Napier. Price, who is 40 years of age, will appear in court on Thursday.
