SHEEP WORRIED BY KEAS FURTHER SUPPORT FOR SUBSIDY (SPBCIU. TO THE PBXSS.) BLENHEIM, March 29. The bi-monthly meeting of the Marl« borough Sheep Owners* Association was held yesterday. Mr H. J. Stacft presided. A motion of condolence with the relatives of Mr C. F. Murray was carried in silence. The East Coast Sub-Union advised that the blowfly was playing havoc with the flocks and asked for information concerning the pest. It was agreed that the Department of Agriculture should be asked further to increase the work of breeding and liberating the parasite to cope with the blowflies. Reports submitted about serious damage among flocks caused by keas in the Upper Awatere stated that in some parts of the country sheep were- terrified and would not go near portions inhabited by the kea. Mr E. F. Healy, M.P., was asked to support further the proposed subsidy as one means of exterminating the birds Support was given to the request of the New Zealand Federation, asking that the Marlborough Union should make immediately representation to the Prime Minister, urging the inclusion of the Rt. Hon. J. G. Coates in the party going to England to investigate the meat discussions. Personal Mr and Mrs D. Clarke, of Chrisichurch, were staying at the Club Hotel last evening. Mr P. A. Thomson, formerly on the staff of the Lands and Survey Department, Blenheim, and now on the Public Trust Office fields staff. Auckland left to-day for Wellington, accompanied by Mrs Thomson and family. The Rt. Rev. W. G. Hilliard, Bishop of Nelson, held confirmation services and addressed public meetings at Beowicktown. Havelock. Ward, and Sfddon during the week, and he will via. Spring Creek and Picton this weekend. Harvest thanksgiving services will be held in the Church of the Nativttr on Sunday next, when the annual gold thanks offering will be received. On the following Tuesday the harvest guiS will be sold at a gathering of pansnionej's and friends. The bishop will probably be present. Cup for Golf Club At a meeting of the Blenheim Golf Club it was announced that a cup, presented by an anonymous donor, waj on the way from England, and would be available for competition this year. Arrangements for the opening da* were left in the hands of the soctal committee. An invitation was extended to sister clubs. Hockey Club's Meeting At the annual meeting of Beaver Hockey Club officers elected for the year were:—Patron, Mr M. McKenzie; president, Mr D. McFednesJ secretary. Miss A. Wanden; club captain, Miss B. Mills. Supreme Court The second trial in the Supreme Court of George Walker,, formerly a school teacher at Haveiock, on 1* charges of indecency, was concluded this afternoon. The jury returned a verdict of not guilty. The prisoner was remanded till next session on three other counts, which have not yet been started.
