A NEW MUSICAL EXTRAVAGANZA

❖ IMPORTED ARTISTS "New Faces" is the title of the spectacular production which the J. C. Wil-liamson-Frank Neil International Variety Revue Company will present at the Theatre Royal for a strictly limited season, beginning on Saturday with a matinee. Writing of this really brilliant show, the Wellington "Post" critic said: -Possibly because every face is new, every artist finished and brilliant in his or her line, and every act was novel—whatever the reason, Frank Neil's 'New Faces' company, consisting of top-Jine artists from England, the Continent, and America, attracted an audience that packed the Grand Opera House from floor to ceiling on Saturday night, and as these clever and supremely gifted entertainers unpacked their wares there was a steady roar of approval. Indeed, it may be said with perfect truth that it is vears since any company of the kind was so enthusiastically welcomed, while the comments all round echoed the delight experienced in seeing such a fresh and stimulating 'flesh-and-blood' show again. . . ." This talented company, the members of which were specially selected by Mr Neil on a recent trip abroad, is headed by Nice, Florio, and Lubow, an American dancing trio, whose engagements have included 36 consecutive weeks in London. Another topliner is the English comedian, Joey Porter, whose quiet methods of provoking hilarity are in marked contrast with the slapstick manner of many other laugh-makers. The above are only a few of the star turns in this novel and sparkling combination. Box plans for the season are now open at the D.I.C. Special Concession A special concession is offered to children attending the first matinee performance at the Theatre Royal on Saturday of the Frank Neil company of international variety stars. Recognising that many children in Christchurch have never seen a real London variety show, Mr Neil has arranged for one child to be admitted free with every adult. This is indeed a concession, and one that will be appreciated by parents.
