The text of the Abyssinian Government's memorandum on the Italian frontier incidents which was issued at Geneva to-day is based on Article 11, paragraph 2, of the Covenant of the League of Nations, and requests that the matter be placed on the council agenda. In pursuance of the British Government's efforts to use its good offices with both sides to ameliorate the crisis, Mr R. A. Eden, leading British delegate to the council, together with M. Pierre Laval (France), had a private meeting with Baron Aloisi (Italy). Italy and Abyssinia then agreed to undertake direct friendly negotiations, pending the meeting of the council in May.
