The way many of the returned soldiers spoken to and questioned about their war service by the Duke really failed to inform him of the units they served with, was commented on by a retired officer on Saturday. Many of the men, he said, replied to the Duke's questions merely by stating that they belonged to this or that contingent. This information, hov/ever, would be meaningless to his Royal Highness, to whom it would have been far more informative if they had stated the name of their regiment and battalion.
