NEW FRENCH COMMANDER-IN-CHIEF
(Received January 21, 12.45 a.m.) PARIS, January 20. General Marie Gustave Gamelin, aged 62, succeeds General Maxine Weygand, who has reached the agelimit, 68, as commander-in-chief of the army. General Gamelin had a brilliant war record and later was commander-in-chief of Syria.
