MALARIA EPIDEMIC IN CEYLON
* TWO THOUSAND ALREADY DEAD COLOMBO, December 21. The malaria epidemic has killed 2000 persons. The price of quinine has trebled and five months' supply has been issued in 20 days. Thousands of pounds arc being rushed from India, Java and England. The north-western province faces a food shortage due to floods and a caterpillar plague after a prolonged drought. The Duke of Gloucester has cabled his sympathy.
