Having won every one of its matches in the first three days •of the international triangular tennis contest. Australia is in an unassailable position. A capacity crov/d was present for the games on Saturday, which were played in very hot weather. Results:— G. P. Hughes (Britain) beat J. Brugnon (France), 6-4, 6-3. V. McGrath (Australia) beat C. The Hughes-Brugnon match was a patchy affair. Brugnon tired badly. There was fine tennis in the Mc-Grath-Boussus match, each concentrating on the other's weaKnesses, but McGrath's forehand stood up better than Boussus's backhand. Perry gave a pathetic display in the first set against Crawford, netting and outing simple returns. Crawford, on the other hand, was in great touch off either hand. He served deep to tnc corners, forcing Perry to make defensive returns, from which Crawford scored with placements. Perry steadied in the second set and followed good length drives into the net. where he volleyed his way to a 3-0 and 4-2 Tend, but, then errors by Perry and hard serving by C'-awford enabled the latter to take four games in a row for the match. The Australian pair completely outplayed the Englishmen in the doubles, Hughes being the weaker.
