JOURNALISM PRIZES

PRESENTATION TO WINNERS Prizes and awards won by Christchurch journalists, in the annual competitions for good journalism, conducted by the New Zealand Journalists' Association, were presented at a gathering of members of the Christchurch Journalists' Union, on Friday afternoon. , _, „, The competition was won by Mr W. S. Noble (Dunedin "Evening Star"), and the Christchurch journalists to gain awards were Messrs E. K. Green ("Times" and "Star"), who was awarded second place. C. H. Williams ("The Press"), who gained third place, and Miss Esther Glen ("Sun"), and Mr G. F. Harcourt-Wybert ("Sun") highly commended. The presentation was made by Mr E. C. Marris, the president of the union, who mentioned that Mr Green had the distinction of having gained first and second places in different years, and that Miss Glen was the first woman journalist to gain an award in the competitions. Christchurch journalists had been prominent in winning awards in recent years.
