PAINTING TRAFFIC LINES

♦ - ASSOCIATION ASKEP TO MEET COST A letter received from the Traffic Department, of the Christchurch City Council at a meeting of the Automobile Association last evening caused some surprised comment. The letter mentioned that the white lines in Cambridge terrace between Montreal street and Cashel street had become worn, and asked whether it was desired that the council should repaint them at the expense of the association, as before. The letter was signed by the Chief Traffic Inspector (Mr H. Macintosh). There was some laughter when the letter was read.

Mr W. R. Carey said that the sssociation had assisted in having the original lines done and had even offered to supply the brushes in the anxiety to have the work carried out.
