CHRISTCHURCH HARMONIC SOCIETY

The box plans for the Harmonic Society concerts at the Civic Theatre next Wednesday and Thursday will open at Chas. Bcgg's to-morrow. Great interest is being taken in the production in Christchurch o£ two of the principal choruses from Bach's "B Minor Mass." This work which is undoubtedly the .finest of Bach's choral works, is seldom produced by reason of its great difliculty and its two principal choruses which will be rendered by the Harmonic Society choir, are quite outstanding examples of choral writing. An equally important work is Bach's "Christmas Oratorio," parts 1 and 2 of which will be sung for the first time in Christchurch. The balance of an exceedingly attractive programme will comprise Christmas carols. The choir will be as usual under the baton of Mr Victor C. Peters, who may be relied upon to produce one of his usual brilliant per* i f ormances.
