WAIMAIRI TENNIS CLUB A special meeting of the Waimairi Tennis Club v-"? held at the pavilion on Thursday, Mr R. Banks presiding over a large attendance. The chairman said the meeting was called to see if some effort could be made to reduce the club's indebtedness. It was decided to hold a jumble sale early in December and the following committee was set up:—Mrs Agar. Miss Guild, Messrs Banks, Crocker, Eraser, Jones, Dawson, Hayes. Music Was played by Fred Comyns' orchestra. A Monte Carlo waltz was won
by Miss Jarman and Mr B. Inwood. Mr L. Wray was master of ceremonies. Card Evenings
More than 60 people attended the weekly card evening of the Waimairi League Football Club on Wednesday in the Papanui Buildings. The competitions resulted: —ivirs H. Hookham 1, Mrs J. Munro 2, Mrs J. Neville 3; Mr P. Young 1, Mr C. Blackmore 2, Mr M. Hendry 3. A dance was held afterwards to music played by the Papanui orchestra and Mrs C. Smith. There was a gooo) attendance at the weekly card evening of the Horticultural Society held in the Mem6rial Hall. The competitions resulted:—Mrs W. W. Taylor 1, Mrs C. Owen 2, Mrs J. H. Reynolds 3. The Advance Northcote Association weekly card evening was largely attended. The games resulted: —Mrs Drake 1, Mrs Fantham 2; Mr J. Lange 1, Mr Drake 2. Consolation prizes were won by Mrs Lee and Mr L. Grimwood.
