♦ CENTENARY GOLF TOURNAMENT KIKKWOOD DROPS BACK (Received November 16, 10.55 p.m.) MELBOURNE, November 16. The second day of the open golf championship 10-day saw some dramatic changes made among the leaders. Cooper and Thompson (United States) ousted Gene Sarazen, who was equalled by J. Ezer in a sensational fashion. Although he was putting with some luck, Cooper played perfectly for 72. J. H. Kirkwood has no chance now. He went out in 40 and was home in 38. A. V. Rae, of Victoria, gave a brilliant display. He missed a yard putt at the tenth, but regained a stroke by sinking a 20-foot putt at the eleventh. i Kirkwood's play was scratchy, beginning with three consecutive fives, and requiring three putts at the seventh while he was badly bunkered at the ninth. A. J. Shaw's failure was caused by poor putting, and he struggled home with a score of 40. His full score was 74—78—152. Of the other New Zealanders J. Watt's card was 78-77-155 and E. S. Douglas's 83-76-159. Scores were:— Cooper .. .. 70 72 142 Thompson (U.S.A.) ..72 70 142 Gene Sarazen .. 69 74 143 J.
