SPORTS FIXTURES FOR TO-DAY

CRICKET, TENNIS, BOWLS, AND YACHTING THREE SWIMMING CLUBS TO OPEN SEASON Cricket, lawn tennis, bowls, swimming, and yachting are among the sports fixtures for this afternoon. The various competitions will be advanced a further stage. Play in the third round of the Canterbury Cricket Association's competitions will be continued as follows: — Riccarton (270) v. Old Boys (two for 0), at Hagley Park No. 1; St. Albans (276) v. East Christchurch, at Hagley No. 2; Sydenham (297 for nine), at Lancaster Park; West Christchurch (355) v. Old Collegians (four for 0), at Rugby Park. The Suburban Cricket Association's competition will be continued as follows:—Working Men's Club (131) v. Marist (136), at Woolston Park; Beckenham (93, and 19 for two) v. Shirley (34), at Richmond Park; Sunnysido (298) v. Railway (7 for one), at Sunnyside. Representative Lawn Tennis The leading lawn tennis players of Canterbury will be seen in action at Wilding Park this afternoon, when a representative match will be played on the centre courts between Canterbury and a New Zealand University team. In addition the Canterbury Lawn Tennis Association's inter-club competitions will be continued, the A grade on grass courts, and the B, C, and D grades on hard courts. The Christchurch Bowling Centre's pennant competition for the Manning Cup will be continued, with play on practically every green. The Phillipstown, Shirley, and Hornby Swimming Clubs will open the season. The Canterbury Yacht and MotorBoat Club will hold a race on Lyttelton Harbour open to every yacht and sailing boat registered with the club. It will start at 2.15 p.m. The Pioneer Motor Club will conduct a hill-climb at Redcliffs. ! I
