GERMAN SHIPPING SERVICE
A REPLY TO PROTESTS BERLIN, November 14. The Nordeutscher Lloyd Company, in a statement replying to the protest by Australian and New Zealand Chambers of Commerce againsi. the resumption of its service from China to Australia, declares that modern ships have replaced inadequate craft. It has merely extended the Hong Kong-New Guinea service to Australia, and this cannot be described as inter-Empire trade, because the ships call at the Dutch Indies and the Philippines.
