DAIRY COMPANY At the monthly meeting of the directors of the Kaikoura Co-operative Dairy Company, held on Wednesday, Mr P. S. Humm (chairman) presided. The secretary (Mr R. T. Pope) reported that sales of butter, comprising 4560 boxes, had been made up to the grading of December 22. The manager (Mr A. Ross) reported that 104.6961b of butter had been manufactured for October, as compared with 99,2031b for October, 1933. Petrol sold for the month amounted to 1978 gallons. The average test was 39.31. The pay-out was fixed at 7Jd a lb for finest grade for October. It was decided to purchase a two-ton lorry. Dental Clinic During the month of September Miss T. K. West, dental nurse, performed 245 operations on 135 children who attended the clinic. Dances A dance was held in the Masonic Hall on Wednesday night, in aid of the Kaikoura Tennis Club funds, when there was a good attendance. A Monte Carlo was won by Miss Watt and Mr J. Clayton, the lucky door number being won by Mr R. Chisnall. Music for the dancing was played by Misses A. E. Flower, M. Wareham, M. Strahl, Messrs J. W. Anderson, J. Clayton, and F. Warner. Mr T. Flower was master of ceremonies. The dance held in the Suburban Hall on Saturday night, under the supervision of St. Michael's Tennis Club, was well attended, and a most enjoyable e time was spent to music played by Mrs F. Smith, Misses Mackle, M. Wareham, and K. Smith. Mr R. Smith was master of ceremonies.

Social Evening St. Peter's Bible Class girls held a social evening in St. Peter's Hall in aid of the Anglican bazaar funds, when an enjoyable time was spent in games, competitions, and songs. Mrs G. Blackler and Mr J. Carter sang, and Mesdames N. R. Comer and J. Carter were the accompanists. Mr Ferris also contributed humorous items. Gardening Circle The monthly meeting of the Kaikoura branch of the Women's Institute gardening circle took place at the residence of Mrs W. F. Perrin. Mrs N. R. Comer (president) presiding. Mrs Comer gave an interesting and instrue-

tive talk on flowering shrubs, for which she was accorded a hearty vote of thanks. A leaf competition was won- by Mrs F. S. Rutherford. Mrs Perrin was elected secretary of the circle. Mrs R. T. Pope offered to plant seeds for plant distribution among members. The hostesses were Mesdames Abraham Boyd and W. F. Perrin, assisted by the Misses Perrin. A vote of thanks was passed to Mrs Perrin for the use of her home for the meeting. The next meeting will be held in February. Town School Committee At a meeting of the Town School Committee, Mr A. W. Barker (chairman) presided. Correspondence was received from the Education Board about the appointment of a secondary master, and from the Mangamaunu School Committee about a social to be tendered to board members on November 24. It was decided to ask the Education Board for a supply of chairs and tables for the infant classes. Friday, December 14, was fixed as a date for the break-up carnival, to be held in the Drill Hall. New Tennis Court A new tennis court is being laid down by the Kaikoura Tennis Club. The work was commenced yesterday.
