During a hearing at the Arbitration Court yesterday, an interesting discussion arose as to whether a contractor conveying children to and from school could be class sd as a passenger driver and so come under the Dominion Passenger Transport Drivers' Award. Mr Justice Frazer said that for the purposes of the Transport Act school children were classed as "goods" and not passengers. A contractor so engaged therefore did not need a passenger service license. Mr R. M. Macfarlane, secretary of the Canterbury United Millers' Union, will leave this morning for Dunedin to undertake the reorganisation of the North Otago and Otago Flourmillers' Union. The old award for that district has and there is no union unctioning there. In Bangkok a man changes his name with each son. After the seventeenth son, however, the father resumes his original name.
