SUMNER BOROUGH COUNCIL
MONTHLY MEETING The Sumner Borough Council met last evening, when there were present: The Mayor (Mr W. H. Nicholson), Crs. G. F. Allen, H. fi. Kennett, H. L,, Wiggins, and A. Holdeh. The engineer's report Stated that various footpaths and roads in the borough had been repaired with, esphaft and top-dressed. The old Clifton reservoir had been cleaned, repaired, and refilled. The new reservoir had been emptied and cleaned, and the high pressure ram on this line had been emptied. On Clifton terrace a dry rubble wall was being erected across the gully at the bend above Mr Buxton's residence, where a portion of. the road slipped away some time ago; The stone for this work was being carted from the excavations at the ] Clifton reservoir. At the Pratt street tram shelter the ceilings had been put in and all the woodwork painted. The rock was being pointed and the wooden seats prepared. The wall on the west side of the Beach tearooms was now finished with the exception i of the two piers at the entrance to the tearooms, and the walls of the septic tank had been raised to the required level. A pipe rail with netting attached had been put on the stone wall at the approach to the steps leading on to the beach. A start had been made with the erection of the wall and seat along the drain from the cross path towards the Esplanade bridge, The concrete portion of the outfall drain from Colenso street to the outlet had been cleaned,
