WOMAN DISLOCATES LEG CFEIS3 ASSOCIATION TELZOEAM.) DUNEDIN, November 12. An unusual surf accident occurred at St. Clair yesterday, when Alice ,Wigg, aged 36, married, was caught by a large wave and thrown heavily, dislocating a leg.

A butcher's van driven by Harry Ruffell, aged 51, who was accompanied by his son, Harry John Ruffell, aged six. stalled on the Dublin street railway crossing at Picton on Saturday afternoon and was struck broadside on by the Blenehim-Picton train. being rolled over and over for a considerable distance before the train could be pulled up. Ruffell was thrown out after being carried a few yards, and escaped with a few bruises, being able to run to the boy's assistance after the train had passed. The boy was unconscious, but quickly recovered, and, though both are in hospital, they are practically uninjured and will be discharged to-day. The van was wrecked and the {.round was strewn with sausages, meat, and other contents of what was really a travelling butcher's shop. The escape of Ruffell and the boy is described as miraculous.

CHILD DROWNED IN BATHS • (ritESS ASSOCIATIOK TELiOXAM.) FOXTON. November 12. The four-year-old son of Mr R. Morris, of Foxton, was drowned in the Municipal Baths this morning. The child entered the baths in the absence of the caretaker, and must have fallen into the water. When the caretaker returned, after a brief absence, another child told her that a little boy was in the water. The child was then floating, and resuscitation efforts were unavailing.

FALL ON FOOTPATH John Hudson, a young man of Murray-Aynsley Hill, St. Martins, suffered concussion when he slipped, striking his head on the pavement outr side the Crystal Palace yesterday afternoon. A St. John Ambulance was called, and he was admitted to the Christchurch Public Hospital at 4.50 p.m.

INJURED MAN RECOVERING (PRESS ASSOCIATION TELZQJUM.) BLENHEIM, November 12. Joeph Perano, who was injured by the explosion of a bomb in a mishap on the whaling launch Cachalot, is making splendid progress, and is regarded as being out of danger.
