MEMORIAL TO MAORI LEADER
The erection at Waitara of * monument to Sir Maui Pomare is to be begun soon. Surmounting a pedestal base will be a full-size figure statue of Sir Maui. Work on this has been started by a Christchurch artist. It is expected that the memorial will be unveiled next year. No grant from the Government was received for the work.
