TRAMWAY TRACKS
RENEWALS IN COLOMBO STREET MEETING OF BOARD The Christcliurch Tramway Board met yesterday. Mr E. J. Howard, M.P., presided, and there were also present Mr J. K. Archer .(chairman), Mrs E. R. McCombs, M.P., Messrs C. E. Jones, J. Mathison, G. Manning, W. J. Walter, E.. Parlane. and G. T. Thurston. The works and traffic committee reported that the board s vehicles had been involved 111 17 accidents during September—five with motor-cars, two with motor-trucks, two with motorcycles, one with a bicycle, five when persons were alighting from cars, and two miscellaneous. , When the present renewals gang had finished on Hackthorne road it would be transferred to Colombo street, Sydenham, between Brougham street and Southampton street. The cost of renewing tracks there would be i-oobu. The City Council proposed to recondition its portion of the road at the same time. _ Letters received from the Town Clerk (Mr J. S. Neville) suggesting ihat the board should decorate the shelters in the Square for the visit of the Duke of Gloucester, and that buildings on the route taken by him should also fce decorated were referred to the works and traffic committee. A request from the Christchurch Beautifying Association that rubbish containers be placed near the seats on the north and south sides ol the Cathedral was referred to the works and traffic committee.
