Greater inter-Empire trade as opposed to a policy of the extension of foreign market? was the subject of a debate this evening between teams representing the Wellington and Christchurch Accountant Students' Societies. The motion. "That the export trade of New Zealand could best be stimulated by making reciprocal ■ trade agreements with foreign countries." was supported by Wellington, represented by Messrs W. 11. Mathicson, 1. T. Cook, and H. L. Cooper, and ' opposed bv Christchurch, represented : by Messrs L. R. Smith, C. T. R. Cain, ■and 11. R. Lake. The judge was Mr jWill Appleton. who awarded first , place to Wellington, with 291 points, i Chrislehureh securing 289 points. Mr 'F. H. Bass was chairman.
