THE UNEMPLOYMENT LEVY
10 TilK EDITOR OT TUB TltESj. Sir, —May I ask your other readers i£ they consider that it would have been much fairer of the Government to abolish or reduce the unemployment levy instead of reducing' the wages i , ,1411 Surely it must be apparent to all tha; it is more unfair to demand the Hot rate of 5s a quarter from the male adult population, irrespective of ability on the part of many to pay it easily. It is as much as the man who earns £5 a week or more is able to pay, then surely it is a great hardship upon the man whose income is 2os or less to have to pay the same. The abolition of the levy would abolish not only an injustice but a nuisance as well.—YoUrs, etc., RELIEF WORKER. '' August 31, 1934. Alllf
