THE WINTER SHOW

♦ SUCCESSFUL EXHIBITION REPORT TO MANUFACTURERS' ASSOCIATION Had not the last two days of the exhibition been marred by bad weather the attendance figures for the Winter Show would have shown a considerable increase over those for the previous year, stated Mr F. W. J. Belton, president of the Canterbury Manufacturers' Association, in reporting to the meeting of the executive last evening on the recent Winter Show. The final figures for the show were not yet available. Mr Belton said that the general character of the show had been very satisfactory. "There had been some outstanding displays by exhibitors who had not previously taken part, and the interest of the public had been, maintained throughout.' If one section more than the others deserved praise it was the arts and handicrafts section organised by the ladies' auxiliary of the association. In the first two or three days of the show more persons had visited it than it had attracted in the whole of last year's period. Lord and Lady Bledisloe had been particularly interested in this section. The conduct of the show had been quite satisfactory. There had been one unfortunate incident, for which the show executive could not have been held responsible in any way, but all would sympathise with Mr F. H. Hawker in the loss of the medals belonging to his firm. The executive owed a debt of gratitude to Mr H. Bradley, -who with Mr A. M. Hollander had made arrangements for the excellent Maori concert. There were also present at the meeting: Messrs A. M. Hollander, F. L. Hutchinson, H. B, Duckworth, C. S. McCully, R. H. Webb, S. L. Pugh, H. Bradley, J. M. Thomas, R. E. Berry, W. C. Fairbrother, E. D. Brown, C. ! J. Morrison, A. C. Maxwell, D. Hoare | (secretary), and E. H. Marriner (organiser).
