ALASKAN MILITARY AIR BASE
♦ PROPOSAL BEFORE CONGRESS (Received March 23, 9.0 p.m.) WASHINGTON, March 22. An Alaskan delegate to - has proposed the construction of a military air base in Alaska capabl: of handling 200 aeroplanes. The base would hr-'C landing fields at Nome and another anchorage covering the nearest of the Aleutian Islands, which stretch across the Pacific towards Japan, "to protect from attack a rich territory of onefifth the size of the Jnited States."
