REDCLIFFS BOWLING CLUB

10 IBE I-;-' "r. r*r<y ir xhe president of the Redclifls Bowling Club at the start of the present season called a general meeting of members to discuss the formation of a ladies' bowline club. We decided

to admit them at a subscription of 15s. and a motion was passed that they be allowed to play three afternoons and one evening a" week. I am not against lady bowlers: but when we as a club make a rule it should be strictly carried out. Bui now, without calling a general meet-1 ing, the ladies are allowed to play two | extra evenings a week. Do the president and committee think that it is fair that, wbile men members pay a 50s subscription, ladies should pay only 15s. and yet be allowed on the greens now. on Monday, Wednesday, and Thursdav afternoons, and on Tuesday. Thursdav, and Friday evenings? Now thev have got the thin end of the wedge in for Saturday's play! I play bowls to have a same with mv men. friends of an evening and Saturdav afternoon: but if the committee does not strictly carry out the motion passed at the general meeting mv connexion of several years' standing with the club will close at the end of the present season. Other members are vcrv dissatisfied because the committee is too weak to enforce the rules and motions of the club. By all means let the ladies play bowls: but keep them in their place and let mere male members have the green to themselves sometimes.—Yours, etc.. LESS PETTICOAT GOVERNMENT. Mr A. H. Thompson, president of the Redcliffs Bowling Club, commented on this letter yesterday as i follows: "Whilst seizing the opportunity of stating that the women's section has proved to be a distinct acquisition to the club, the two sections enjoying the game together in complete harmonv. 1 do not think that the columns of the public press are a suitable medium for the discussion of such a purely domestic matter as that referred to by your correspondent, who could, if he chose, voice any complaint to the committee, a step which he has not yet taken."
