-.0 IBE lI'tTOR OF THK Sir,—l should be glad of space to thank Sir Charles Kingsi'ord-Smil h for visiting Oxford with his famous monoplane, the Southern Cross, and giving the residents an opportunity of flying with him As an old resident' of 28 years' standing I was great I v hurt that the local authorities were "not on the ground to welcome him. Sir Charles is the greatest aviator in the world to-day, I give honour where honour is due; and I did not think he would ever come to a small place like Oxford. He has been welcomed almost in every country in the world by thousands of people; and when he was good enough to pav a visit to a small place like Oxford and did not receive an ofiicial welcome from the local authorities, well. I think, it is time they woke unl A« an old resident 1 personally thank Sir Charles for his visit: and I trust he will have a safe trip back to Australia when he crosses the Tasman again, all good fortune, and all success in his work for aviation. — Youis. etc..
