* ASHBURTON PERSONAL Miss K. Turnbull, president of the St. Andrew's Girls' Auxiliary, who will be married shortly, was presented by members at a social gathering with a clock as a token of esteem. The pre station was made by Mrs R. S. Watson. Mr P. R. Pickford, of the Mayfield telephone exchange, has been transferred to Leeston. At last evening s meeting of the Ashburton Motor-Cycle Club, reference was made to the active interest Sir Pickford had taken in the club as an ofticial ana a competitor. Basketball A'; the annual meeting of the Allenton Old Girls' Basketball Club Mrs E. C. Bathurst presided. Repertory Society The Ashburton Repertory Society held its annual meeting on evening. The president, Dr. \v. n. Bowls At a meeting of the Ashburton SubCentre Bowling Association, when Mr C. J. McEachen presided, it was decided to conduct a pairs tournament at Easter, plaj to be on the Ashburton and Allenton Clubs' greens on Easter Friday and Saturday, and the ties and finals to be decided on the Rakaia Club's greens on the Monday. The arrangements were left to the following sub-committee: —Messrs R. V/. Barr. S. Mitchell, H. Conway, and J. Templeten. Hockey Club The annual -ieet"ing of the St. Andrew's Men's Kockey Club was held last evening, Mr M. A. Garrioek presiding. The balance-sheet showed a credit of £2 4s lOd. The annual report referred to the success of the last year, stating that the club had three players in representative teams. The senior team finished third in its grade. The following officers were elected:— Patron, Mr J. Shaw: president, Mr W. J. Miller: vice-presidents, Messrs D. Heena>i, D. H. Moore, H. Silverwood, and I. C. Fowler: secretary and treasurer, Mr D. Basketball The annual meeting of the St. Stephen's Basketball Club was held last evening. Mr A. M. Meredith presided. The annual report stated that the club membership was 32. The club's teams performed well in the competitions. Home and home matches were played with the Lincoln Club. The balance-sheet showed a credit of £2 lis sd. Wallis. It was decided to affiliate with the Mid-Canterbury Sports Protection Association. Mr Meredith was elected the club's delegate to this body. . Football Meeting The annual meeting of the Technical Old Boys Football Club was held last evening. Mr A. Thomson presided. The balance-sheet showed a credit of £4. The annual report stated that three players gained junior and one third grade representative honours. Officers were elected as follows: Patron. Mr R. J. Thompson; president, Mr W. Crawford; vice-presidents, Messrs J. M. Willoughby. L. J. Fowke. F. S. David. R. Elvy, A. E. Clarke: secretary and treasurer, Mr R. G. Varcoe; club "captain. Mr Varcoe; vice-captain. Mr A. It was reported that there was every prospect of the club entering the senior grade, as well as competing in the junior and third grades.
