BOAT THIEVES ACTIVE

Boat thieves axe at work on the lower reaches of the Avon. Last week a boat disappeared from the river past Burwood, and on Saturday Mr F. W Pearcy, of Bottle Lake road, lost' his also. Mr Pearcy had tied up his boat on the river opposite the Burwood school and the thieves in making off with it broke both lock and chain. The boat was a flat-bottomed one. painted grev and was much used by its owner. It 'is said that two youths were seen rowing up the river with it; but nothing further has been heard of its whereabouts.
