Douglas leader oT the Douglas Social Credit i Movement, but he was unable lo be. present owing to his having been detained in Wclliiifjton. Members of the Cbristcbmeri Advertising Club and of the Douglas Social Credit Movement were present, as guests of the Business Men's Club, and Mr H. B. Duckworth, president of the Business Men's Club, presided. Apologising for Major Douglas's absence Mr Duckworth said that neither the club's officers nor Majnr Douglas himself, who had been detained .in Wellington, were to blame for the disappointment which members had suffered. The club had received advice only on Friday evening that Major Douglas would not be able to reach Christchurch until Tuesday morning and .Major Douglas himself had made every effort to be present at the luncheon, even trying 1o hire an aeroplane in Wellington. Unfortunately, none had been available and he had' had to wait until the following morning. Mr Duckworth also welcomed the representatives of the Advertising Club and Social Credit Movement who were present, and Mr C. L. Rollo, president of the Advertising Club, replied on behalf of the guests.
