While the Otago Expansion 1-eague does not oppose the construction of the road fom Kingston to Quecnstown. there are in its opinion other roads which will open up fresh country, as well as give access to settlers who have waited for a long time for means of com- . munication with the road system of * tne country, according to a statement recently issued by the league and precedence should be given to these other roads. In the opinion of the league, such work as the Eglinton Valley road extension and the Haast Pass road should be granted priority of construction, on the grounds that they are opening fresh • country for settlement and sightseeing.
