TAWERA COUNTY COUNCIL
At the monthly meeting of the Tawera County Council there were present:—Councillors R. M. D. Johnson (chairman), R. Milliken, H. C. Amyes, W. K. McAlpinc, H. A. Millar, and J. K. McAlpine.
Cr. H. C. Amyes was appointed to attend the conference called by the Canterbury Roadside Beautifying Association to be held next month. The town clerk, Christchurch, asked for a • statement of expenditure on road maintenance so that a fresh allocation of heavy traffic fees could be made. ' It was decided to supply the information. , • The Department of Agriculture advised that the apiary complained of by the residents of Springfield had been removed to a new location and there should be no more trouble. The St. John Ambulance Association forwarded a report of ambulance calls answered during the last quarter. One trip had been made to this district at a cost of £5, but no donation had been received for the call. The clerk reported upon the work don-J during the month. The Mount White bridge had been repaired and the slight damage done to the roads by the recent heavy rains had been rectified.
