LATE VISCOUNT HALIFAX
REQUIEM SERVICE TO BE HELD THIS MORNING A requiem service for Viscount Halifax, the oldest peer of the realm, wtio died at Doncaster, England, on January 19 in his ninety-fifth year, will be conducted at St. Michael's Church at 0 o'clock this morning by the vicar, the Rev. Charles Perry. Because of his social position, his learning, and his wealth, Lord Halifax was one of the most distinguished laymen of the Church of England. He was one of the foremost workers ra the Anglo-Catholic movement. Tor many years lie was president of the English Church Union, and each ycai he cave an address on the position of the Church which attracted great interest. Lord Halifax .vas a close friend of Cardinal Mercier. of Manes who, on his death, left his episcopal ring to the Englishman, because of tiieir work together toward the reunion of Christendom. Led Halifax was an advocate o. the Catholic religion according to tne Church of England, and he stated during his recent campaign for unity m the Anglo-Catholic movement that he had never had the slightest desire to «o over to the Church of Rome. There will be a choir of clergy at | the service at St. Michael's this morning. __________
