MOTOR-TRUCK ON FIRE
J. A. Robertson, of Rolleston, received burns on his back, hands, and legs when his motor-truck caught fire about noon on Saturday, while being filled at the Matipo Service Station; at the corner of Riccarton road and Matipo street. Fortunately the fire was controlled before any serious damage was done, as about 3000 gallons of petrol were in the tanks at the station at the time. Mr Robertson extinguished the fire in his clothing by rolling in the wet grass, and the station hands in the (meantime had attacked the fire with buckets, and hacked the leads from the pumps with axes. By the time the Christchurch Fire Brigade arrived the flames were under control. The truck was driven away, though it was damaged. The paint on the station was blistered and scorched.
