A more serious attitude toward study in the English universities is apparent, according to Professor F. P. Worley, of Auckland University College, who returned recently from a year's leave abroad. He said that since his last visit to England some ago the difficult financial conditions had reduced the large number of students who went to such universities as Oxford and Cambridge for social reasons. To-day there were many students from the yiate secondary schools All over England he found a great demand for higher education, and the universities were filled with eager students.
