Thu escapade o£ a nine-year-old girl patient, who ran away about 6 p.m., caused excitement and apprehension at the Hawera Hospital last evening. The nurses, a doctor, policemen, and a number of residents were engaged in a wide search. She was found an hour later about three miles away on the south road, going in the direction of her grandparents' home 10 miles distant. The child had entered the hospital for a minor operation and observation, and was placed in a room by herself. She appeared quite settled when a nurse visited her a few minutes before l her escape. Her fiversion to hospital was apparently sudden, as she was clad only in a nightgown. She dropped some feet from a window.
