BIG EXPORT CARGOES The busiest day for many months was experienced at Lyttelton yesterday, when five overseas and several coastal vessels were in port. The prompt date for the first wool sale fell due at the beginning of the week and the shipping of the wool is now in progress, ft i.s expected that approximately 20,000 bales will be shipped by the end of this week. In the afternoon the Canadian Highlander completed loading the local portion of her cargo and sailed lor Timaru. The Shaw, Savill, and Albion motor-ship Karamca arrived yesterday morning to complete loading, and is to sail to-morrow for London. She is taking in mutton, butter, and 5000 bales of wool. The Federal Line steamer Hertford i.s also completing loading at Lyttelton. Her Lyttelton loading includes 7000 bales of wool, and she is to sail to-morrow for London, Avonmouth, Liverpool, and Glasgow. Scales and Company's chartered steamer Benreoch is loading 7000 bales of wool and a quantity of pelts for English and Continental ports. She may leave Lyttelton to-night for Timaru and Dunedin to complete. The Shaw, Savill, and Albion steamer Tainui completed loading the local portion of her cargo last night and is to leave Lyttelton at noon to-day for Port Chalmers for final loading. The coastal steamer Holmdale arrived at Lyttelton yesterday from Wellington to load 1000 bales of wool for transhipment at that port. She sailed in the afternoon. A very large amount of labour was employed yesterday, many nonunionists securing employment. However, labour released from the Canadian Highlander and from the Tainui will be available for to-day's arrivals

BREEZE REACHES PORT NATAL

The Canterbury Steam Shipping Company's new 700-ton motor coastal ship Breeze, on her maiden trip out to New Zealand, is reported to have reached Port Natal last Sunday. She is due at Fremantle about January 12, and at Dunedin about January 25.
