Auckland—Overcast conditions with heavy showers were experienced yesterday, but the clouds cleared occasionally late in the afternoon. The fresh westerly wind moderated later in the day. The barometer has fallen •75in since midnight on Tuesday, registering 29.50 in last evening. Wellington—A cold southerly breeze prevailed in Wellington yesterdav. The weather was mostly cloudy, with brief intervals of sunshine, and during the morning there were a few light showers. The maximum temperature was 57.1 degrees. Dunedin—A fresh south-west wind and unsettled weather prevailed yesterday, showers being experienced throughout the day. The barometer rose several points, and registered 29.85 in last evening. There were several brief intervals of sunshine. FORECAST (From readings taken at 4 p.m.) General Situation—An intense depression still covers New Zealand, but its trough is now off the east coast. An anti-cyclone is advancing slowly over the Tasman. while a evclone is apparently located off the' North Queensland coast. Winds —Strong south-westerly to southerly still reaching gale force in places, but gradually moderating.
