ROYAL CHRISTCHURCH MUSICAL SOCIETY'S CONCERT
TO TUB EDU'OU OF TUB TRESS. Sir,—ln fairness to the members of the orchestra of the Royal Christchurch Musical Society, who have so loyally supported me since I came to New Zealand, I cannot let the closing paragraph of your report of our recent concert pass without comment. With one possible exception, what your reporter refers to as insufficient orchestral support was entirely duo to time inaccuracies on the part of soloists, and was not due to the orchestra or myself. To anyone familiar with the solos or following the score of Carmen, the reason should have been obvious. Placing blame on the wrong shoulders would not be done by any critic of wide experience. *..,*■„ I have conducted to the satisfaction of many of the leading London singers for nearly 20 years and surely know mv iob. —Yours, etc., my joo. xuu ' W . H . DIXON. November 28, 1933.
