CAPTAIN STANTON SAILS FOR COCOS ISLAND LONDON, October 16. Captain A. M. Stanton, chief officer in Sir Douglas Mawson's Antarctic Expedition in 1931 and commander of the mission steamer Southern Cross when she was wrecked in 1932, sailed with a crew of 12 old public school boys in a motor-yacht to seek treasure worth £12,000,0p0 supposed to have been buried in the Cocos Island in 1824.
