NORTH CANTERBURY POWER BOARD
A meeting of the North Canterbury Electric Power Board was held yesterday. Present were Messrs D. R. Hutchison (chairman), J. Fitzpatrick, A. M. Carpenter, L. B. Evans, J. Cowens, A Baxter, H. Tallott, and W. A. Kelchei The chairman referred to the loss sustained by the board by the death of Mr J. D. Wyllie, who was the first chairman of the board. A motion of sympathy with Mrs Wyllie and family was passed. Mr W. A. Kelcher, who was appointed by the Kowai County Council to fill the vacancy caused by the death of Mr Wyllie, took his seat and was welcomed by the chairman. Applications were received from the Rangiora and Kaiapoi Borough Councils for a renewal of their contracts for the supply of current. The letters were received. Six applications for financial assistance were granted, four applications for extension of payments were granted and four others were held over. It was decided that all minimum charges for beach cottages should be reduced to 395. The chairman and secretary were given power to accept tenders or further poles if required. It was resolved to call tenders for the replacement of one of the board's cars. The engineer-secretary reported that further services had been run to pick up new consumers at Leithfield beach, White's bridge, and Tuahiwi. Accounts amounting to £3963 6s 2d were passed for payment.
