PAUL VINOGRADOFF IN COURTj ! (rii£si aksoci.uiu;: xeu:gi;..:i.j j WELLINGTON, October 17. I Evidence given in Sydney by his wife, Mme. Theresa Vinogradoff, in an application for a maintenance allowance was contested before Mr W. F. Stilwell, S.M., in the magistrate's court to-day by M. Paul Vinogradoff, a Russian musician. In July last the court in Sydney made a provisional order lor maintenance at the rate of £3 a week. The evidence of Mme. Vinogradoff, who has been living in Sydney since her husband's arrival in New Zealand 20 months ago, was sent on affidavit, so that the final decision could be given in New Zealand after M Vinogradov's evidence had been heard.
Vinogradoff told the court that during his 20 months in New Zealand he had earned £21!5. This included travelling and other expenses. In the last month his weekly receipts had averaged £3 13s a- . his expenses £3 as. The magistrate said ho would reserve decision on maintenance until he had examined the leg;-' aspects of the grounds of the defence.
J At the last meeting of the Pieton ' Borough Council Councillor J. Fuller said the time was arriving when aeroplanes would be as numerous as motorcars, and he considered that consideration should be given to providing landing places for aeroplanes at Picton. It would not cost a great deal to make a suitable landing place on the Waitohi Domain, and he thought that unemployed labour might well be engaged in extending the area. The Mayor said the suggestion was a pro- • gressive one, and would be kept in t mind.
