Auckland—A moderate south-west wind and cloudy weather prevailed yesterday, occasional light showers being experienced during the early morning. The barometer was practically steady at 30.05 in. Wellington—The weather at Wellington yesterday was fine and sunny, but a strong north-west wind prevailed, with gusts of more than 40 miles an hour, the maximum reaching 49 miles an hour. The temperature at 4 p.m. was 58 degrees, and the maximum temperature during the day was 60.3 degrees. Dunedin—A light north-east breeze aud fine sunny weather prevailed yesterday morning, with cloudy conditions in the afternoon. The maximum temperature was 56 degrees. After falling several points the barometer registered 29.75 in last night. FORECAST (From readings taken at 4 p.m.) General Situation—A moderate anticyclone covers the Tasman, but a rather deep depression is crossing southern New Zealand. Winds—North-westerlies prevailing in parts of eastern districts, elsewhere •vfest to south-west, moderate to strong , i-prarally, and gale force at times from Cook Strait southwards. Seas (New Zealand waters)— Rough south of Cape Egmont and about Cook and Foveaux Straits; elsewhere moderate.
