NORTH REACH SCOUTS
ANNUAL MEETING The annual meeting of parents of the North Beach Group of Boy Scouts was held on Monday evening, Mr E. A. M. Leaver, chairman of the group committee, presiding over a large attendance. The report of the committee dealt, in detail with the activities of the troop during the year. It was reported that the strength of the troop was 32. A resolution was passed recording appreciation of the splendid services rendered by Commissioner and Mrs; W. E. S. Furby, almost all the parents present speaking in support of the resolution. Commissioner and Mrs Furby suitably acknowledged the vote of appreciation. Thanks of the meeting were also recorded to Mr F. J. Lawrence Scott for his assistance in training the members of the troop in life-saving. Mr A. W. Jones wrote expressing his appreciation cf the work of Commis- | sioner and Mrs Furby and forwarded a gift of three medals to be allocated at the discretion of Commissioner I Furby. A vote of thanks was accorded I Mr E. A. Leaver for the interest he had taken in the troop. It was suggested that the annual camp be .again held at Glentui. The balance-sheet showed that assets were £l4 9s lOd with no liabilities. Officers were elected as follows: Patron. Mr D. G. Sullivan, M.P.; president, Sir Cyril Ward; vice-presidents, Major A. W. Jones, Messrs J. Westerman, and A. Florance; honorary secretary and treasurer, Mrs W. E. S. Furby; honorary auditor, Mr W. A. Smith. The group committee, consisting of Mesdames W. A. Seymour, W. A. Smith, W. E. S. Furby, and Messrs D. G. Sullivan, M.P., W. E. S. Furby. E. A. M. Leaver, F. S. Norrie, and R. Parker, was re-elected.
