Union, and the Tai Tapu an< other Canterbury dairy factories. in* Conciliation Commissioner iMr b. Kit chie) presided. The dispute was orifii nally heard on September 1. and wa; successively postponed to Sepiembe IS, September 28, and October 11 wages being the main subject of dis agreement. The assessors were: Employers Messrs C. P. Agar and S. J. Smith, witl Mr D. I. Macdonald as agent; employ ees, Messrs A. Pain, W. am A. E. Tongue, with Mr G. T. Thurs ton as agent. . It was found impossible to reach ai agreement on the lines previously dis cussed bv the assessors, but the em ployers suggested a further amend ment to the scale of wages offered b} them, and the council adjourned sim die to allow this offer to be referrec to the parties interested.
